Fall Color Tour October 4-5. Travel on US 2 (Stevens Pass) and return over the North Cascade Highway. We have talked with Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop and made arrangements for one overnight stay, Saturday October 4. After two years of efforts to secure a reasonable rate for club members, we have secured eight AAA Four Diamond Rooms in the Lodge with a Valley View for $100, plus tax; and 14 Lodge Mountain View AAA Four Diamond Rooms at $110, plus tax. Other rooms are available from $150 to $324 per night. In order to secure the group rate, rooms must be reserved by August 15. Additionally, while no Saturday night dinner is scheduled, there are several options: • Dinner in Winthrop at a number of local eating establishments • Dinner at the Lodge restaurant • The Cowboy Camp Dinner: attendees will be transported to the original ranch below the Sun Mountain Lodge by horseback or by horse-drawn covered wagon. Dinner consists of barbeque steaks or chicken; country fried potatoes; cornbread or biscuits; baked beans; corn-on-the cob (if available); vegetables; salads; homemade desserts.
