Wow, two newsletters in one month! Actually, I kinda missed March. Seems that Spring always brings so many more things to do. The days get longer, the garden grows, the MG needs to come out of mothballs or be cleaned of the Winter road grime.

We are pretty much into our season with a couple of events under our belt. I just added ABFM to the calendar and you'll find some updated Minter Garden info below. I wasn't able to join you but I hear that the Tulip Run on 4/23 was a success. Both Andy and Kevin were kind enough to be our on-scene reporters.

I am really happy to see some of you sending email to the listserv. This is one of the great features of the club membership. Members can do group discussions via emial for all topics related to MGs with other members. Speaking of which, only about 20 of you have sent in your dues. It seems that our club is diminishing from 32 last year. If anyone has any insight on this or ideas about how we can do things differently, please contact our new president and/or vice president, Brad Whaley and/or Rodger Rude.

Tulip Run

Andy Bradley

I went on the Tulip Rallye with the blue GT on its maiden drive accompanied by the lovely Hillary Figgs, Spike's daughter as navigator. Some mysterious trouble codes on the new computer, but that is next week's problem. Spike drove his remarkably rough but dependable B roadster with Heidi Figgs, Mrs. as navigator. Kevin's instructions led us though the valley, over to Deception Pass, then back up and around Anacortes, craning our necks at the scenery and looking for clues to the rallye questions. The Rallye
ended at the Northern Lights Casino for picnic and awards. Spike took the plaque for the club, with a spectacular score of 7, whatever that means. (How was I supposed to remember what car Farrah Fawcett drove in Charlie's Angels....)

A Big Thank-You to the MT Baker MG Car Club.

On behalf of the MGCC NW Centre and the Tulip Rally organizers, I'd like to extend big thanks to my fellow MG Club Members for an outstanding turnout. Near perfect weather brought in a near record turnout of over 210 vehicles which included MGs, Triumphs, Fiats, Jags, Corvettes, Austin Healys, and even a 1926 Bentley Le Manns Replica. I also think we had nearly every new Mini registered in the greater Puget Sound there as well. What the MT Baker Club lacked in numbers it made up in raw horsepower. Bill and Cindi Jacobson ran in their MGB V8. Lyle and Francie in their mighty MGA V8. Andy Bradley debuted his MGBGT V6. Spike and Heidi Fig won perpetual honor and glory by placing first among the MT Baker MGCC entrants.

Well done and thanks again to all of you who participated in the 24th Annual Tulip Rally.

Minter Garden Tour

June 18, 2005

On Saturday, 18 of June, Herb Strasler and Rodger Rude will lead a tour to the beautiful Minter Gardens in British Columbia. The tour will start at 9:30 from the ARCO AM/PM Market located on the east side of Sedro Woolley at the intersection of SR 20 and SR 9, where SR 9 heads north to the border. We will head north and stop at the Deming Indian Casino located just east of Deming. This is a good place for gas, a rest room visit, coffee and a goodie.

The Casino baked goods are excellent and are made on the premises. We'll leave there about 10:30 and proceed to the border. Two pieces of identification are required for customs. A passport or a copy of your birth certificate and your drivers license are the preferred documents.

Our Canadian members can wait to join us on the verge of BC 7 along the river just past the bridge on the east side of Mission. We should be there about 11:30 or 12:00 depending on any delay at the border, traffic or road construction along the way.We well arrive at Minter just in time for lunch. They offer two options for a meal, a nice luncheon facility or a full service restaurant. The admission charge of Canadian $12.00, $10.50 for seniors, and the cost of meals can be paid for by credit or debit card or by U.S. currency. If paid for with U.S. currency, your change will be in Canadian funds.

Our return trip will take us back on a different route. We can all drive it together or if you prefer, you can drive it by your self. Hope to see you all there.
