Mount Baker Austin Pass Run and Picnic

We had a great tour. 13 cars eventually joined the run up to Austin pass picnic area for a nice lunch and visit. Cars from the MBMGCC and Pre-1956 MG Club of Vancouver were with us. The sun and clear warm skies made up for the last 15 miles of road construction that caused all of the MGs to exercise caution while passing what looked to be many culvert replacements. Thanks to Wayne for leading us up the mountain!

The First Annual Sudden Valley All British Softball and Picnic

The report from Lyle Jacobson was that we did not have a very good showing of club members at this new British car show. Just Lyle and Francie, Travis, and Bruce MacCormack brought their cars while Tom and Kathy Noel came carless as their MGB was still in the shop. Bruce MacCormack reported that here were thirty cars total. Bruce also provided pictures.

Up and coming events

  • The next scheduled MBMGCC event is the Later Day Tour. Tom Noel is the leader and he has decided to change the date to Saturday, the 11th of September. Tom doesn't want to mess up a three day Labor Day weekend for folks so we will have it a few days later and call it the "Later Day" run. We will meet at the Shell station located at exit 246 - the North Lake Samish exit, at 9:30AM and depart at approximately 0945. Tom likes to meet at this spot because it allows your car to get gas and you to get coffee, food, use the restroom, etc.. We will cruise the Skagit flats to Padilla Bay and return to the Noel's house to relax. Tom is thinking about a pot luck/ BBQ lunch. He figures that the club could buy some Tritip steak or perhaps he will buy some steak for those who attend. So, members should bring the beans and salad and Tom will burn some steaks. Also the plan will be to have a photo shoot so everyone and their cars can be published on the website.

September 4th update:

I went to the commissary today and picked up the Steak for the BBQ after the run next Saturday. I will also have beverages, plate, cups etc... I would like to have some what of a head count. Would you please email or call me, 360-647-5450, if you are planning to attend. I am looking forward to this run with much anticipation. My car is out of the shop and currently is running good thanks to Andy. Should be a nice run to Padilla Bay and up Chuckanut back around Lake Samish to my house for good food and fellowship. Please bring a salad, beans, or dessert.

Hope to see all club member and friends.

Remember that you need to get your information to me for the newsletter and/or website to make the monthly publishing deadline of the last Saturday of the month! Our website is only as good as the content. YOU are the folks who provide that.

You may always check the calendar for the latest information and I also try to keep the main page up to date.

Your humble editor,

Eric Hall
