ANACORTES ORPHAN CAR SHOW
This will be the second annual orphan car show in Anacortes and we have added considerable parking for the cars. The date is Saturday, September 13th. As we did last year, there will be no registration fee, no judging, no trophies or dashboard labels. There will also be no exceptions to the rule THAT, ONLY CARS THAT ARE NO LONGER MADE AS A BRAND NAME, will be admitted. The one single exception to this will be one car that we have dubbed an ”HONORARY ORPHAN CAR”. The reason for this is that the owner of this car, a Ford, has several other true orphan cars but these can not make the trip from his home in Virginia. He will drive his 40-year-old Ford all the way to our show. I think that is deserving of admittance and I think you will agree. His other cars are Nash, Studebaker, Black, and Sears, to name a few. What we will have is the antique Steam and engine show next door, a chance for all of you to see our town and visit with each other. We have scheduled great weather but we could get fooled. We will have information on restaurants and public rest rooms to hand out to all. There are several other events taking place around town and we’ll list those also for your enjoyment. Now that we have our permit, the show is certain and I will try my best to have a flyer ready to E-mail, to all the clubs on my list, by next week. The location is of course Anacortes. As you enter the city you will face a ”T” that demands that you turn right or left. Turn RIGHT and you are on Commercial Avenue, the main street of town and you will be heading north. Continue north until you reach 9th Street where you will again turn RIGHT. Go TWO short blocks and you are there. Someone will be there to direct you to our show area. You will see the W.T. Preston, a large stern wheeled snag boat as a landmark. I apologize for getting the notices out so late but without a permit to hold the show on public streets I was hesitant to make the announcement. E-mail me if you have questions or can think of something that I have Forgotten to tell you. lorens@fidalgo.net
